Charges: The client was charged in the Moorabbin Justice Centre with Driving Whilst Disqualified. We abridged the matter to Frankston Magistrates Court, for a plea of guilty.
Facts: The client was a 63-year-old man who had been driving for 45 years. He had two prior traffic offences, both involving excess alcohol consumption. These had both been dealt with via traffic infringement notices. He was caught driving whilst disqualified, in a random vehicle check.
We appeared on his behalf and advised the court of the circumstances of the offence, the client’s personal circumstances and all other relevant matters.
Results: The client received a good behaviour bond without conviction. He was ordered to participate in a road trauma awareness seminar and a defensive driving course. After our strong submissions to the Magistrate, His Honour opted not to suspend the client’s drivers licence.
